Cornell University’s Dr. Deb Streeter developed the original concept: to create a “virtual panel” of experts, to be used to stimulate discussion, illustrate concepts, and create a real-world feel in teaching entrepreneurship.

The entries make for interesting reading on the subjects of getting paid for your work as an artist, the balances of paying the bills vs doing the work you love to, how working voluntarily feeds the idea that artists will work for free, and the changes that need to and may occur in the UK to help artists become financially self-sufficient. Voluntary Arts England has released over 100 free information sheets covering a range of topics such as setting up, getting support, marketing, networking, the law and accounting. Although these resources are aimed at the volunteer sector, much is relavant to any arts business.
