eClips: From the Horse’s Mouth

From EFF website: e-clips is an open-access, searchable database of video clips highlighting experiences and advice from entrepreneurs in a variety of industries, including the fashion industry. Cornell University’s Dr. Deb Streeter developed the original concept: to create a “virtual panel” of experts, to be used to stimulate discussion, illustrate concepts, and create a real-world feel in teaching entrepreneurship.

Research Into Sustainable Dye Techniques

Isabella Whitworth is a textile artist who works with dyes. She began looking at the sustainability of her work a couple of years ago. Her website documents some of her research, with good links to further research. Her links page is also extensive and well organised.

Getting Paid As An Artist

Emily Speed is an artist based in Liverpool. Her project blog Getting Paid was the most popular on the a-n website recently. The entries make for interesting reading on the subjects of getting paid for your work as an artist, the balances of paying the bills vs doing the work you love to, how working voluntarily feeds the idea that artists will work for free, and the changes that need to and may occur in the UK to help artists become financially self-sufficient. Information for Arts Businesses

Voluntary Arts England has released over 100 free information sheets covering a range of topics such as setting up, getting support, marketing, networking, the law and accounting. Although these resources are aimed at the volunteer sector, much is relavant to any arts business.
