slow fast craft goods

The work on display in the Manufractured exhibition mixes fast and mass produced goods with the slow and repetitive processes of craft by 15 international artists.
These are two of my favourites. Dominic Wilcox’s War Bowls are a metaphor for the senselessness of war, a visual representation of how easily the bodies and minds of people can be crushed by force. Laura Splan uses traditional methods to produce laces, wallpapers and embroidery subverted by their context. The intricacy of the pictured doily is copied from a deadly virus.
